He came to Howard County, Iowa, in the year 1869 with his parents, settling on a farm one miles west of Howard Center. Howard Center has been his home ever since.
He was united in marriage to Carrie Feather, December 4th, 1872. To this union one daughter was born dying in infancy. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary, December 4th, 1922.
He leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife, two brothers: Will of Seattle, Washington, George of Chicago, Ill. and one sister, Mrs. Fred Daws of Cresco, Iowa. “Uncle Jim,” as he was known by everybody, was a loving husband, a kind neighbor, always a friend in need, and loved by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
