Eva Melver, 82, services Tuesday

Funeral services for Eva Melver, 82, were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24 in First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary K. Lee and Intern Jim Gonia officiating. Interment was in Howard Center cemetery with grandsons serving as casket bearers, namely; Joe Schorr, Reed Stevenson, George Melver, Scott Melver, Tracy Melver and James Melver. Arrangements were with Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral Home.

She died March 21, 1987 in the Cresco Care Center.

Eva Melver was born on August 28, 1904 in Cresco, the daughter of Elijah and Amanda (Croxton) Henderson. She attended the Cresco schools. On October 15, 1920, Eva was united in marriage to Carl Melver at Austin, MN. They were the parents of 15 children. Carl and Eva lived in the Cresco area all of their married life.

Survivors are 10 sons: Robert of El Paso, TX, Kermit of Shell Rock, Carl and Norman of Cresco, Earl of Arlington, George of Hawkeye, Leonard and Oscar of Lime Springs, Richard of Preston, MN and Thomas; three daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Grace) Schorr of Cresco; Mrs. Robert (Ann) Balk of Goodell and Mrs. Raymond (Wanda) Sly of Guthrie Center; 39 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1986. She was also preceded by four brothers, three sisters, two sons, Edwin and John Edward; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
