George Cummings, 62, services Tuesday

Funeral services for George Cummings, 62, were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21 at St. John's Catholic Church in Waterloo. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery with full military rites by the VFW Post 1623 and the American Legion Post 138.

He died of cancer on Saturday, July 18, 1987, at his home in Waterloo.

George Emmet Cummings was born Sept. 6, 1924 in Howard county, the son of Emmet and Mae (Harris) Cummings. He married Diana Dozark on October 25, 1951 in Wisconsin. George was employed at Young Plumbing and Heating Co. for 28 years, retiring this year. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Roy Michael of Portland, OR, Mark Patrick of Mesa, AZ, Glen Anthony of Fort Dodge, Lee Timothy and Carl Andrew both of Waterloo, a daughter, Nona Jean Mason of Evansdale, four grandchildren; two brothers, Donald of LeRoy, MN and Richard of Cresco; five sisters, Marie O'Neal and Irene McGee, both of Austin,MN; Geneva Peckham and Margaret Burkette, both of Cresco and Edna Miller of Vancouver, WA>

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John and three brothers, Thomas, William and James.
