Scott Zakostelecky, 23, services held Monday.

Services for Scott Zakostelecky, 23, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 25, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. The Rev. Morris Ulring officiated with burial in Howard Center cemetery. Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He died Friday in St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester from injuries received after the car he was driving left the Vernon Springs road south of Cresco and crashed into the bank of a county gravel road. He was the third traffic fatality of the year for Howard County and one of four injured in the accident. The other three men involved in the one-car accident are expected to recover with Alan Kuhn listed in satisfactory condition in Rochester.

Scott was born November 30, 1960 in Cresco, the son of Francis and Helen (Reuter) Zakostelecky. He was employed as a welder at Feather Lite Trailers in Cresco at the time of the accident. He had previously worked at Rawhide Trailers.

Survivors are his parents, Francis and Helen of Cresco; two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Melody) Baltz of Wahoo, Neb. and Mrs. Mike (Marsha) Hageman of Spillville; two brothers, Vernon of Cedar Rapids and David of Cresco and his maternal grandfather, Vernon Reuter of Lime Springs.
