Dinger

Edward William, only son of Sam and Maggie Dinger, was born Oct. 23, 1902, at the place where he died in Howard Center, at the age of 11 years, 11 months and 22 days.

He was a bright and intelligent little boy and was loved by all who knew him and he was especially fond of his school books and school mates.

His bereaved parents and sisters tenderly cared for the suffering one through all his sickness, but all that willing hands and loving hearts could do was of no avail and when Monday morning came, Oct. 12, they seemed to hear the savior’s gentle voice saying “Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is kingdom of heaven.”

He leaves to mourn his death, a kind and loving father and mother, and three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Dotzler, Mrs. Mabel Walker and Alice, all residing near Howard Center.

Besides his relatives there are left to mourn him many little friends, who showed their friendship by a very nice floral offering. As they looked upon his innocent young face for the last time each little school mate deposited a dahlia upon the casket. The other floral offerings were beautiful and consisted of carnations, chrysanthemums, including a pillow of the latter.

The grieved parents have the sympathy of a large circle of friends and neighbors.

The funeral service was held Wednesday at the house at 1 o’clock with burial in the Howard Center cemetery, Rev. G. W. Meyers of Bassett, Iowa, having charge.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the many friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us in the sickness and death of our loving son and brother; also for the beautiful floral offerings, especially those of the little school children.

We wish also to express our thanks to those fraternal societies who so kindly remembered us with floral offerings and assistance, particularly the Woodman Circle and Odd Fellow lodges.
