Mrs. Maronde Died Tuesday

Augusta Maronde, nee Sterner, was born in Prussia, Germany, Jan. 16, 1848 and came to U. S. A. when a girl 21 years old.

July 25, 1870 she was married to Mr. Herman Maronde and lived with her husband and family in Manistee, Michigan until the year 1878. Then they moved to the state of Iowa and settled on a farm near Davis Corners.

Their union in marriage was blessed with five children, two of them dying in their infancy. The departed moved to Cresco thirteen years ago, after her husband preceded her in death, and lived in her home on Railroad Street until the final summons came to her.

In the last years of her life she was confined frequently to the house on account of illness. About a week ago she became seriously ill and was relieved of her temporal suffering December 8th, 4:30 a.m. at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 22 days. She was willing to go to rest, and, as we hope, to her eternal reward.

She leaves to mourn: two sons, Louis of Cresco and Herman of Marshall, Minn., and one daughter, Mrs. Art Hilke; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the home and at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel’s Lutheran church, Rev. L. W. Moench officiating.

Interment was made in Howard Center cemetery.
