Shaughnessy ‘Joe’ McNamara

Shaughnessy “Joe” McNamara, of Lime Springs, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Rochester Methodist Hospital. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Lime Springs United Methodist church, with Pastor Candraeah Carey officiating. Burial is in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy. Visitation continued at the church Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Burial is in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Shaughn “Joe” McNamara was born Sept. 3, 1956, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Francis and Wilma “Blue” (Loar) McNamara. He attended and graduated from Immaculata High School in Leavenworth and was United in Marriage to Kristine “Kristy” Walker April 18, 1981, at the Presbyterian Church in Lime Springs. Joe worked as the plant manager for Fred Carlson Co., Knife River and Croel Redi Mix Plant in LeRoy for over 25 years. Joe had a great sense of humor; he enjoyed hunting, going for bike rides on his Harley Davidson and spending time with his friends; but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Kristy, of Lime Springs; three children: Chantal (Troy) Granahan and grandkids Liam and Audrey of Ankeny; Denny McNamara of Lime Springs and Meghan Hill and grandkids Kolton and Nolan of Ankeny; three sisters: Collen (Jim Philen) McNamara of Stillwater, Minn.; Rose (Fred More) McNamara of Forest Lake, Minn.; and Marlene (Eddie Lopez) McNamara of San Diego, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Ryleigh Marie Hill. Memorials are preferred to the family in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be left at Hindtfuneralhomes.com.
