Allan Kessel Shackleton, 68, died November 12 in Milwaukee, Wis. after a long illness.

He was born in Cresco, the son of Allan D. and Julia Kessel Shackleton and spent his youth here with his grandfather, the late Dr. George Kessel. Allan attended the University of Chicago and was graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1941. He entered the military service with the U.S. Army and served in England and France where he was wounded and separated from the service as a major in 1945.

Shackleton was the General Life Agent for Lincoln National Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee until his retirement. Since then he had been an independent agent.

Allan was a member of the Chartered Life Underwriters and the National Estate Planning Council for 39 years.He was a member of Kiwanis International, Psi Upsilon Fraternity and St. Christopher's Episcopal Church.

He preceded his mother in death by five days.

Survivors are his wife,Virginia,one son Douglas of Chantilly,VA.; a daughter, Cynthis Martin of Milwaukee, two grandchildren and an aunt, Gertrude Williams of Cresco.
