Services to be held for Dorothy Van De Weerd

Funeral services for Dorothy Van De Weerd will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco with Rev. Lewis Flanigan officiating. Dorothy donated her body to the University of Iowa Medical School.

Dorothy, 85, died Monday, May 5, 2003 at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.

Dorothy Van De Weerd was born April 15, 1918 south of Cresco at Vernon Springs, the daughter of Ward and Cora (Sebastian) Craft.

On June 22, 1939 she married Guy Van De Weerd. She was a lifelong resident of Howard County.

She enjoyed the outdoors.

She is survived by her husband Guy; one daughter: Fran Burke of Cresco; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Harold of Cresco and Ray of Waterloo; and two sisters: Marie Baethke of Cresco and Goldie Leferink of Albuquerque, NM.

Dorothy was preceded in death by three brothers: Kenneth, Harley, and Urban.
