Fred Adolk Lybbert, the third son of Henry and Katherine Lybbert, was born in Jutland, Denmark Oct. 22, 1869. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 15 he came to America and settled in Howard County with his brother George. On February 13, 1895 he was married to Miss Merea Klockon of Richland Center, Wis. They started their married life on an 80 acre farm at Howard Center, Iowa, moving later to a larger farm, and then the place was purchased on which they now live, and has been their home for 28 years.

After a few hours illness he passed away on Christmas morning, December 25, 1930 at 8 o’clock.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and five children, Erna (Mrs. Fred Mohr) of Riceville; Rena (Mrs. Merle King)of Lime Springs; Mabel (Mrs. Fay Hite) Vinton; and Frank and Ralph at home; three grandchildren, Keith King, Winifred Jean and Robert Mohr. There are also three brothers: George of Cresco, and Henry and Carl in Denmark. Will Klockou, Mrs. Lybbert’s brother, and two nephews, Harvey and Herbert of South Bend, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. Klockou of Madison, Wis., were present at the funeral services.
