Albert Mackenburg Died Monday Evening
Albert Mackenburg, one of Howard county’s pioneers, died Monday evening at 8:30 at his home at 224 4th Avenue West after a prolonged illness at the age of 64. He had been in poor health for many years and had been ill for the past two weeks.
He was born in Waukesha county, Wisconsin on August 12, 1869. When two years old he came to Howard county with his parents and settled on the farm about four miles southwest of Cresco where he has since lived until six years ago when with his family he moved to Cresco.
On July 28, 1903 he was married to Miss Alvina Prinz and to them were born three children, Ruth (Mrs. Wm. Woodard), Esther and Theron both at home in Cresco.
Those who survive are his wife and family, two brothers, Herman and William Mackenburg, one sister Mrs. Chris Evert, all of Cresco, and three grandchildren.
Mr. Mackenburg was a kind and loving father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church and one of its most liberal and loyal supporters. Funeral services were held at the home, the Rev. L. W. Moench officiating. Burial was in Howard Center cemetery.
A memorial service will be held in the church as soon as the repairs and redecorating are finished.
