Alvina Mackenburg Funeral Services Are Conducted Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs. Alvina Catherine Mackenburg were held at 2:00 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Immanuel Lutheran church with burial later in the Howard Center Cemetery.

The following sketch of her life was read by Rev. L. W. Moench who officiated at the ceremonies.

Alvina Catherine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl D. Prinz, was born Feb. 7th, 1878 in Howard County, Iowa. In her infancy she was baptized by Rev. Carl Jungok and as a young woman was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Davis Corners by Rev. John Pless.

She was united in holy matrimony with Albert Mackenburg on July 28, 1903, Rev. C. Niedermeier officiating at the ceremony. This union was blessed with two daughters and one son, Ruth, Esther and Theron.

The couple lived a year in Cresco and then moved on the Edminister farm. Twenty-eight years ago they moved to Cresco.

Mrs. Mackenburg was ill for some time and around Easter her health became so bad that she was forced to remain in bed. A few weeks ago she arrived at the conviction that her good Lord would soon call her home and that she then would meet her husband who preceded her in death Aug. 21, 1933. Her summons came to her Friday, July 9, at 11:15 a.m. She attained the age of 59 years and five months.

Mrs. Mackenburg was an ardent member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Bethany Circle.

She leaves to mourn her departure her two daughters, Ruth (Mrs. Wm. Woodard), Miss Esther Mackenburg and Theron Mackenburg, all of Cresco. She is also survived by four sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Mary Hein, Mrs. Sophia Steinmetz, Mrs. Bertha Hanneman, Ferdinand Prinz, all of Cresco; Mrs. Fred Pauli and Will Prinz of Thayer, Missouri. There are also three grandchildren Janice, Dorothy and Paul Woodard.

During the services Sunday afternoon the choir sang “Oh Love That Will Not Let Me Go” and Mrs. Earl Widman and Miss Dorothy sang “I Heard The Voice of Jesus Saying.”

A memorial wreath of $5.00 was established in memory of Mrs. Mackenburg for the missions by the Bethany Circle.
