Esther Baker, 80, services Monday
Services for Esther Baker, 80, who died Nov. 13, 1987 at Evans Memorial Home, were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 16 in Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Arndt Braaten officiated with interment in Howard Center cemetery. Arrangements were with Lindstrom Funeral Home.
Esther (Mackenburg) Baker was born January 1, 1907 in Howard county, the daughter of Albert and Alvina (Prinz) Mackenburg. She taught in the rural schools of Howard County and then obtained a government position and lived in Denver, CO and Washington, D.C. While in Washington D.C. she met and married James Baker. They moved to Joliet, IL and lived there until his death. Esther then moved back to Cresco. In 1974 she suffered a stroke and entered Evans Memorial Home.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ruth Woodard of Cedar Falls.
Her parents, husband and brother, Theron Mackenburg preceded her in death.
