Leon Morgan Funeral Conducted on Monday

Funeral services for Leon Morgan were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist church with the Rev. George W. Baker officiating. Burial was in the Howard Center cemetery with the Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

He died Oct. 11 at St. Mary’s hospital in Rochester.

Leon Eugene Morgan was born Oct. 28, 1895, at Cresco, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Morgan. He attended the Cresco public schools. On Nov. 25, 1915, he married Neva Bawden. He spent his entire life farming in Howard county. In 1958, he retired from farming because of failing health, moving to Cresco in December 1959.

He was a life-long member of the Methodist church. He served as president of the Howard county Farm Bureau for several terms, having been a charter member of the organization. He served as a director of the Farm Service company for several years and as school director at various schools. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge.

Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ellis. He is survived by his wife, Neva; three sons, Paul of Antioch, Ill., Eugene of Pleasant Hill, Calif., and David of Waverly; three daughters, Mrs. Percy (Irene) Schultz of Nora Springs, Mrs. Robert (Janette) Barrick of Keokuk, and Mrs. Tom (Edith) McAlpin of Villisca; fifteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one brother, Burton of Lime Springs, one sister, Mrs. Louis (Marjorie) Shafer of Winthrop.
