Neva Morgan, 90, services held Saturday
Funeral services for Neva Morgan were held Saturday, April 19, 1986, in the United Methodist Church in Cresco. The Rev. Thomas A. Woodin officiated with interment in Howard Center Cemetery. Grandsons were casket bearers: Thomas Schultz, Larry McAlpin, Gordon McAlpin, John Morgan, Kevin Morgan, and Kent Morgan. Arrangements were with Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral Home.
Neva died April 17, 1986, at the age of 90.
Neva Bawden Morgan was born near Apple River, IL, on August 27, 1895, to Jesse and Edith (West) Bawden. She moved with her family from Gratiot, WI, to a farm near Bonair at the age of 15. She became a member of the Methodist Church as a young girl and faithfully attended church, Sunday School and the Women’s Association as long as her health allowed.
Neva attended high school in Cresco. On November 25, 1915, she married Leon E. Morgan at her parents home near Bonair. They were the parents of six children. They farmed near Bonair, Lime Springs and Cresco before retiring in 1959 and moving to Cresco. Neva entered Evans Memorial Home in January, 1981.
Neva is survived by her six children: Irene Schultz of Nora Springs, Paul B. of Cresco, Mrs. Walter (Janette) Howe of Keokuk, Eugene E. of LeMoore, CA, Mrs. Tom (Edith) McAlpin of Villisca and David of Waverly; 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon in 1969; her parents; three sisters, Alice and Mabel Bawden and Lila Phillips; three brothers, Clayton, Milton and Leslie (Wink) Bawden.
