Ferdinand Prinz Died Following Extended Illness

Funeral services for Ferdinand August Prinz, 73, of Cresco, long-time Howard county resident, are being held this afternoon (Wednesday) at 1:30 in the Immanuel Lutheran church.

Mr. Prinz died in the Good Samaritan home, Mason City, Monday, following an illness of several years.

The Rev. Robert R. Ahrens, pastor, is conducting the service, and burial is being made in the Howard Center cemetery. Preceding the church service, a short prayer service was held at 12:30 in the home of Mr. Prinz’s sister, Mrs. Mary Hein. The Larson Funeral home had charge of the funeral arrangements.

Ferdinand August Prinz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Prinz, was born September 14, 1876, on a farm near Davis Corners. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. Mr. Youngch, and confirmed by the Rev. John Pless March 22, 1891.

Mr. Prinz was married to Bertha Hanneman February 19, 1908, by the Rev. Mr. Pless. Mrs. Prinz died May 16, 1931. He spent most of his life on the farm, eight years of which were spent in Canada. Upon his return to Howard county he again took up farming, and later worked for the United Shippers in Cresco. He was last employed as janitor at the South Side school.

Surviving Mr. Prinz are a brother, William, of Thayer, Missouri, and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Hein and Mrs. Sophia Steinmetz of Cresco, Mrs. Elise Pauli of Thayer, and Mrs. Bertha Hanneman of Sullivan, Wisconsin.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
