Gwen Steinmetz, 82, services to be Thurs.

Funeral services for Gwen Steinmetz will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 17, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with interment in Howard Center Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 16, at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco.

She died at St. Mary’s Hospital following surgery on Saturday, September 12, 1992, at the age of 82 years.

Gwen Steinmetz was born July 21, 1910, near Lime Springs the daughter of Robert and Katie (Owens) Thomas. She was united in marriage to Joel Steinmetz on June 6, 1935. Gwen cooked at the school for many years.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Steinmetz of Chatfield, MN; one daughter, Gwenetta McMahon of Minneapolis along with four step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband Joel, who died in 1977, one brother, Albert Thomas and one sister, Gladys.
