Mrs. Helena Roesler

Helena Louise Albertina Mohr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Mohr, was born in Howard County, Iowa September 3, 1874. She was baptized in her early infancy by Rev. Young and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church March 4, 1888 by Rev. E. N. Heimann. She received her education in the Howard County Public Schools.

On October 9, 1894 she entered the estate of Holy matrimony with Mr. Bernard Roesler with Rev. John Pless performing the ceremony. This union was blessed with three children: Lucias, Theresa and Harold. After her marriage she lived with her husband and family on farms near Lime Springs until 1926 when she became a resident of Lime Springs. The one daughter, Theresa, preceded her mother in death in infancy at the age of two months. Her husband also departed life on December 22, 1926.

Mrs. Roesler suffered for about a year with a heart ailment. Sunday, June 6, she suffered another attack which resulted in her passing from this world to her eternal home at the age 68 years, 8 months, 3 days at 7 o’clock in the evening.

Mrs. Roesler was an active member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, attending the services faithfully. She was a regular guest at the communion altar and took Holy Communion for the last time on Easter Day. She will be missed by many members of the church.

Those who mourn her death are her two sons, Lucias and Harold Roesler, both of Lime Springs; three grandchildren and one brother, Mr. Amil Mohr.

Funeral Services were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lime Springs at 2:00 P. M. on June 9. 1943. Commitment was made in the Howard Center Cemetery. Two vocal selections were sung by Mrs. Oscar Queel and Miss Ruth Tuerk with Mrs. O. Heide at the organ.
