Death of Mrs. Croxton

Mrs. May Croxton, 67, widow of the late George Croxton, died at her home in the south part of town at 5:30 Monday evening after a paralytic stroke Sunday. The body is at the Peckosh funeral home and funeral services are pending awaiting the arrival of her son Charles Edmonds who is on his way here from Hollywood, Calif. Mrs. Croxton’s brother Kelsy LaValley of Minneapolis arrived Monday an hour before his sister’s death. She was also a sister of John LaValley of Cresco. Burial will be beside her husband in the Burr Oak cemetery. The Rev. G. W. Turner will officiate at the funeral.

Mrs. May Croxton

Funeral services for Mrs. May Croxton were held at the Peckosh funeral home Friday afternoon, the Rev. Geo. W. Turner, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in the cemetery at Burr Oak.

Mrs. Croxton died at her home in the south part of town October 2, at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 5 days. She was born at Burr Oak, Iowa, May 27, 1878, the daughter of J. P. and Sophia LaValley. Her parents settled at Burr Oak in 1865. Later the family moved to Bluffton and in 1893 moved to Cresco where Mrs. Croxton lived until her death.

She married Cyrus Edmonds and to them were born two children, Georgia, who preceded her mother in death and Clement of Hollywood, Calif. Cyrus Edmonds died and later she married Geo. Croxton of Cresco, who died in 1924.

Surviving are her son Clement, five grandchildren, two brothers, Kelsey LaValley of Minneapolis and John LaValley of Cresco. One grandson, William, who was an army captain in the Philippines, died in a prison camp.
