Lawrence E. Pecinovsky died on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Regional Health Services of Howard County. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Nick March officiating. Burial will be held in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Schley, IA. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2012, with a rosary recited at 2:45 p.m. and Scripture Service at 6:30 p.m., at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home 123 North Main St. in Protivin, Iowa. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Lawrence Pecinovsky was born on June 23, 1932 to Edward M. and Florence (Puffer) Pecinovsky on the family farm in Howard County. He entered into the United States Army in December of 1953. Lawrence received his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and was sent to Fort Lawton, Washington for one month of KP duty. His next assignment was Fort Lewis, Washington, where he drove truck and received his discharge in December 1955 with the rank of PFC. On October 21, 1957 he married Clara Falada at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa. Lawrence enjoyed being outside and tinkering around the farm, checking on his animals, listening to Polka music, and looking through tractor books. Surviving Lawrence is his wife, Clara of Elma, his son, Gerald (Jolynn) of Protivin, IA, daughter, Joan (Dennis) Best of Fort Atkinson, IA, his grandsons, Levi and Izaack Best, and his sister Cornelia Knutson of Elma, IA, and several nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
