Frank E. Mrachek, 91, of Cresco, Iowa passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Patty Elwood Center in Cresco, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. The Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home 404 North Elm St. is in charge of arrangements. Frank E. Mrachek was born on October 4, 1920 to Arthur and Stella (Bouska) Mrachek on the family farm. He attended country school and was a life long resident of Howard County. Frank was united in marriage to Ethel Sabelka on February 15, 1944. Frank grew up farming, and was a proud farmer his whole life. Frank is survived by his wife Ethel of 68 years, his children Roger of Charleston, RI, and Mary Lou (Nick) Brown of Winnetka, IL, grandchildren, Stephanie Dohrer, Julie Ackerman, Ryan Mrachek, Catherine Barron, Casey Mrachek, Michael Brown, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, a sister, and his daughter-in-law, Patti (Knosby) Mrachek. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Patty Elwood Center 21668 80th St. Cresco, Iowa.
