(Eda) Ardelle Larson The funeral service for Ardelle Larson will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 at United Methodist Church of Lime Springs, IA with Pastor Candie Carey officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Beaver Township, Fillmore County MN. Eda Ardelle Larson, 87, formerly of Chester, IA died Thursday, April 05, 2012 at Patty Elwood Center in Cresco, IA. She had resided at Patty Elwood Center since September 2008. Eda Ardelle Larson was born on June 5, 1924 at the family farm near Bangor, WI to Edwin and Eda (Temte) Larson. After leaving home she worked briefly as a housekeeper in Rockford, IL and then Moen Photography in LaCrosse, WI. Ardelle Larson was united in marriage to Harold Larson on October 29, 1949 in LaCrosse, WI. They farmed and raised their four children in Fillmore County near Chester, IA. Ardelle and Harold were married 39 years until he passed away on February 4, 1988. Ardelle continued to live on the farm until 2006 where she enjoyed gardening and had many beautiful flowers, vegetables, strawberries, raspberries, and was always busy canning, baking or making jellies. Ardelle was a kind and giving person, and she enjoyed sharing her flowers, vegetables, and baked goods with family and friends. Ardelle had a strong Christian faith and devoted her life to her faith and family. She was an active member in the United Methodist Church where she taught Bible school, Sunday school, and enjoyed attending Bible study groups with her friends. She had also been a member of Christian Women Club. Ardelle was a past member of the Austin Gem & Mineral Club in Austin, MN and enjoyed giving programs or presentations of her lapidary and other craft projects to many community groups. Other interests included traveling on bus trips, Norwegian baking, playing board games, and doing crafts with her grandchildren. Ardelle was blessed with numerous talents and hobbies throughout her life including photography, ceramics, pottery, calligraphy, china painting, rock painting, Norwegian rosemaling, tolpainting, crafts, quilting, braided rugs, and woodcarving. Ardelle and Harold were active members in the Austin Gem and Mineral Club, and enjoyed searching for agates and stones in their farm fields, local quarries, and local streams. The lapidary hobby was her favorite pastime, and she enjoyed tumbling or polishing her stones and creating numerous artistic creations. Ardelle is survived by four children: Peggy (Frank) Cummings of Solon, IA; Patsy (Dennis) Holzwarth of Sioux Falls, SD; Harlan (Mary) Larson of Lime Springs, IA; and Ardis (Craig) Forland of Zumbrota, MN; 10 grandchildren, Bill (Jennifer) Cummings, Becky (Joe) Taylor, Joe Cummings, Jeff (Brooke) Holzwarth, and Steven (Amanda) Holzwarth, Christina Larson, Michael (Erin) Larson, and Ericka Larson, and Matt and Laura Forland; and 4 great-grandchildren, Bella and Sean Cummings, Carter O'Connell, and Bryce Taylor. Ardelle is also survived by two brothers Clarence Larson of Bangor, WI and Richard Larson of Rochester, MN, and sisters-in-law Clarice Larson, Mildred Larson, Beatrice Larson, Lois Larson, and Lorraine Kreiensieck, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ardelle is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Alice Dahl, and six brothers Harold, Edwin, Anton, Kenneth, LaVerne, and Arthur Lawrence. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley, MN 316 North Broadway, and one hour before the service on Monday at the church.
