Allen W. Henry, 69, of Cresco, Iowa passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012 at his home. Memorial service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home 404 North Elm Street Cresco, Iowa with LeRoy Webb officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Allen W. Henry was born on January 20, 1943 to Richard and Rose (Magee) Henry on the family farm in Howard County. Allen attended Notre Dame Catholic High School, and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1962. After high school, Allen enlisted into the United States Army. During his time in the military he worked as a Law Clerk. Allen was a truck driver for Mehmert Tiling for several years. He enjoyed firing his guns at the shooting range, watching TV, and reading. On Sundays, he looked forward to a heated game of 500 with his sister Shirley, niece Jessie, and great niece Laken. Allen is survived by his brothers, Sonny of Burr Oak, IA, Virgil (Joan) of Ridgeway, IA, Howard (Sandy) of Arizona, Arden of Rochester, MN, Arnie (Vicki) of Dubuque, IA, Larry (Wendy) of Decorah, IA, Terry “Buck” (Jane) of Cresco, Gary (Sherry) of Cresco, Randy (Brenda) of Oran, IA; his sisters, Shirley Weber and Kathy Schmitt both of Cresco; his special niece and great niece Jessie and Laken Lienhard of Cresco; several other nieces and nephews; and his cat, Baby. His parents, and sister Joann Bertling preceded him in death.
