Long Time Resident of Cresco, Died; Services Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs. A. W. Henke, 78, who died in Cresco Wednesday afternoon following two years illness were held Saturday afternoon in the Immanuel Lutheran church in Cresco.

The Rev. H. H. Adix, pastor of the Lutheran church in Lime Springs conducted the services in the absence of the Rev. R. R. Ahrens, pastor of the Cresco church. Burial was in the Howard Center Cemetery.

Edith Hanneman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hanneman, was born in Ridgeway, August 18, 1869. Her parents moved to Cresco when she was five years old, and she had lived in and near Cresco for the rest of her life.

Mrs. Henke was educated in the rural schools in Albion township and became the bride of Albert Henke February 20, 1894. The wedding ceremony was performed in the mother{sic} of her mother in Saratoga by the Rev. John Pless, pastor of the Immanuel Luther church in Cresco.

Mrs. Henke is survived by eight children. They are Mrs. Raymond Mackenburg and Carl Henke of Cresco, Mrs. Oscar Richter of Saint Paul, Mrs. Lowell Johnson of Harmony, Elmer Henke and Elvin Henke, twins, of Elkader, and Arnold Henke of Minneapolis.

She is also survived by three brothers, Ed Hanneman of Cresco, Ernest Hanneman of Ridgeway, and William Hanneman of Ossian. There are 13 grandchildren living.
