George J. Lybbert

Funeral services for George J. Lybbert who died at Mercy hospital Wednesday Feb. 10, 1937, were held at the home of his son Edward west of Cresco, Saturday afternoon, the Rev. W. H. Mitchell, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in the Howard Center cemetery.

George John Lybbert was born in Jutiand, Denmark, Jan. 20, 1859, and attained the age of 78 years, and 20 days. He lived in Denmark until he was seventeen years old and then came to America with a family of very close friends. He soon located in the vicinity of Cresco where he spent his entire sojourn in this country. Here he married, built his home and reared his family. He will be remembered as being thrifty, very industrious, firm in his convictions and loyal to the country in which he chose to live. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Fred and William and his beloved wife, Anna Cathrine.

He is survived by two sons, Henry and Edward of Cresco; four step-children: Mrs. Chas. Reis of Bonair; Mrs. Anna Klockow of Richland Center, Wis.; John and Soren Godfresen of Menominee, Wis. There are 23 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren besides many neighbors and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Klockow, Soren Godfresen and son George and John Godfresen attended the funeral.
