Walter Pittelko, 72, services held Monday
Funeral services for Walter Pittelko, 72, were held Monday, December 30, at 11:00 a.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. The Rev. Arndt Braaten officiated with interment in Howard Center Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews and grandsons: Carl Grinhaug of Chicago, IL; Ben Grinhaug of Rochester, MN; Mark Grinhaug and Joseph Hensley, both of Cresco; Merle Huber of Cedar Falls; and Steve Pittelko of Rochester, MN. Arrangements were with Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral Home.
He died December 27 in the Howard County Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Walter Pittelko, son of William and Susan (Steffen) Pittelko was born March 21, 1913, in Howard County. He attended the rural schools of Howard County. On May 15, 1941, Walter married Irene Ott in Preston, MN. They were the parents of four children.
Walter was a self employed milk truck hauler for the Cresco Creamery. He also owned and operated the King Koin Car Wash. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Irene of Cresco; two daughters, Mrs. Kurt (Elaine) Klaenhammer of Stillwater, MN, and Mrs. Adolph (Jolene) Gamez of Cresco; two sons: Gerald of Rochester, MN, and Allen of Fond du Lac, WI; and nine grandchildren; also two brothers, Carl Pittelko of Slagle, Idaho, and Albert Pittelko of Cresco; two sisters, Mrs. Archie (Viola) Hensley and Mrs. Carl (Alvina) Grinhaug, both of Cresco.
His parents and one brother, Bennett, preceded him in death.
Relatives attended the funeral from Chicago, Il; Fond du Lac, WI, Stillwater, Rochester, Minneapolis, MN; Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Fairbank, Urbandale, Hudson and the surrounding area.
