Diane Marie Meyer was born August 27, 1947, in Cresco, IA, a twin of David and the third daughter of John F. and Lois M. (Peterson) Dotzler. For a few years, Diane grew up in Winneshiek County hear Kendallville. As a young girl, the family moved into Cresco where she attended school. Following her education, Diane stayed at home and helped her mother with her brothers and sisters.

When Diane and Harold were fourteen years of age, they knew that the other was the one they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with, they dated and on September 7, 1968, Diane was united in marriage to Harold Z. Meyer at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, IA. They made their first home in Cresco and shortly after, on a family farm between Cresco and Protivin. She looked after children then, and in 1992 they moved into Cresco. She started a child daycare operation where she continued her love for looking after children. She became a second mother to many children in the Cresco area for fourteen years.

Diane enjoyed life to the fullest. Things she enjoyed most were working in the yard, gardening, baking, going for walks, fishing, camping, and visiting with family and friends. She loved the holidays so that she could bake and put on big Thanksgiving or Christmas dinners for everyone in her family. Diane never gave up the love for children and enjoyed having them around even after her children grew up and went on their own. Diane had been a member of the Rosary Society in Protivin and presently in Cresco. She donated much of her time working with her church groups. She volunteered in her children’s classrooms and school activities.
