Services held for Otilia Barta, 93
Funeral services for Otilia “Tillie” Barta of Cresco were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11 at the St. Joseph’s Worship Center in Cresco. Rev. Henry Charipar presides in Cresco and Rev. Donald Hawes presided over the committal services. Interment was in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Spillville. Pallbearers were: Ray Bieri, George Vachta, Verdell Haakenson, Stan Kepros, Jerome Nibaur, and Gary Boeke. Honorary pallbearers were: Peter Kepros, Ed Ondrashek, and Wm. J. J. Weier. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Otilia, 93, died Monday, January 8, 2001 at the Evans Memorial Home.
Otilia Barta was born August 13, 1907 in Winneshiek County near Spillville, the daughter of Frank and Barbara (Kabela) Barta. She attended parochial schools through the eighth grade living in the Jerico area with her brothers, Emil, Frank and Daniel. Later Otilia lived with her brother, Leonard in Cresco.
In August of 1996, she fell at home, being alert and competent, refused treatment. She was then unable to walk and was wheelchair bound until June 14, 1999. She began to deteriorate and became unresponsive and was taken to Regional Health Services in Cresco and transferred to St. Mary’s in Rochester. She entered Evans Memorial Home in Cresco on July 14, 1999.
Otilia did custom house cleaning and enjoyed baking, especially kolaches.
She was a member of Notre Dame Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society. Otilia belonged to the Catholic Workman Organization.
Survivors include two brothers: Leonard and Daniel of Cresco; and two sisters, Adelline Kovarik of Cresco and Margaret Hruska of California.
Otilia was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers: Julius, Edward, Frank, Emil and August.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 11 at St. Joseph's Worship Center, Cresco with Rev. Henry W. Charipar officiating. Organist was Suzanne Ollendick.

Tille Barta was born Aug. 13, 1907 near Spillville, the daughter of Frank and Barbara (Kabela) Barta. She attended parochial schools through the eighth grade, living in the
Jerico area with her brothers, Frank, Emil and Daniel Barta. After the death of her parents, Tillie made her home with her brother Leonard in Cresco. She spent her life as a housekeeper, working for many different families. She enjoyed baking, especially kolaches, for which she was noted. She was a member of Notre Dame Parish, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Catholic Workman Organization.
Survivors include her two sisters, Adeline Kovarik, Cresco and Margaret Hruska, California; two brothers, Leonard and Daniel Barta, Cresco and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Julius, Edward, Frank and Emil.
