Mrs. Ruth Morris Succumbs at 82; Funeral Services Held Here Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth H. Morris, Lime Springs were held Monday afternoon at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, the pastor Lewis Chamberlain officiating.
A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Thomas, T.E. Price and Mrs. William J. Jones sang. Miss Elizabeth Jones was the organist.
Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lime Springs. Pallbearers were Robert Lee, Dalyn Souhrada, Price Jones, William J. Jones, Raymond Rapp and Leland Johnson.
Relatives and friends from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Peterson, Forest City, Iowa, Mrs. Edward Knudtson of Forest City; Mrs. Mabel VanDyke of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jones of Harmony, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Darrah and Mr. W.O. Davis of Cresco.
RUTH H. MORRIS
Ruth H. Morris, daughter of Robert H. and Jane Ann (Jones) Roberts, was born February 3rd, 1882 on a farm in the Foreston community east of Lime Springs.
She attended the rural school near her home then became a dressmaker and continued in this line of work for a number of years prior to her marriage. She maintained an interest in sewing all her life and continued to do fine work until her final illness.
On January 4th, 1911 she was united in marriage with Richard Morris. They lived on various farms in the Lime Springs area until 1943 when they retired and moved to town. Here they resided until Mr. Morris' death May 15th, 1957 and Mrs. Morris' death April 10, 1964.
To this union were born two children, a son and a daughter. The son Sgt. Robert H. Morris was killed in January of 1943. The daughter, Eunice, Mrs. Harold Nelson, of near Saratoga, survives.
Mrs. Morris made her profession of faith early in life and was a faithful member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church for many years.
She was also a member of the American Legion Auxillary and belonged to the Royal Neighbors.
Mrs. Morris was in declining health for three months and seriously ill for about six weeks. She was lovingly cared for by her daughter and son-in-law until her death April 10th.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister, her husband and son. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Eunice Nelson and son-in-law Harold, also many friends.
