Retired area farmer Dewey Roberts, age 87, died Monday, August 26, 1985 at Aase Haugen nursing home in Decorah, Iowa following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday August 29 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lime Springs. The Rev. Paul M. Hasvold officiated at the services. The Sensor-French Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were James A. Roberts, David Roberts, Edward Sandston, James D. Roberts, Marvin Wesseling, Lee Frost, Jack Frost, and Robert Sargent.

Dewey was born July 7, 1898 in Lime Springs, Iowa. *The name of his father and mother is not given.* He attended schools in Forest City Township in Howard County and Lime Springs. Later he attended the agricultural college of the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. He engaged in farming near Lime Springs until 1951, he moved to Waterville, Iowa in Allamakee County where he continued farming until his retirement in 1974. He briefly lived in Waukon, Iowa before moving to Decorah, Iowa. On January 8, 1927 he and Ada Schahn were married in Cresco, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Ada; 2 daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Lorna) Johns of Des Moines, Iowa and Mrs. William (Lola) Christianson of Hayward, Wisconsin; 1 grandchild, one foster grandchild, 3 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild; a brother, Archie Roberts of Lime Springs, Iowa and 2 sisters, Sydna Shoemaker and Katherine Jones, both of Lime Springs, Iowa.
