Dale Keune, 84

CRESCO - Funeral services for Dale E. Keune of Cresco were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Cresco. Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco handled the arrangements.

Dale, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco.

Dale was born Nov. 1, 1925 on a farm located on the Golden Ridge Road in Albion Township. He was the son of Wesley and Ethel (Barnes) Keune. He attended rural schools in Albion Township. He was a lifelong member of the Zion Church located on the land adjacent to his family farm.

On Sept. 10, 1946 he married Marcella Henkes at the Zion Church. Dale and Marcella lived and farmed much of their life on the Keune Century Farm on the Golden Ridge. Though they retired and moved to another nearby farm in 1978, one of Dales' greatest pleasures was to continue to help farm side by side with his son, Jerry and grandson, Jonathan, the sixth generation of the Keune farm family.

Dale's top priority was spending time with his family. He served on many offices with his church, Granger Creamery Board and the Granger State Bank. He enjoyed playing cards and socializing with friends, driving for the Amish neighbors, and operating farm machinery.

Dale is survived by his wife, Marcella of Cresco; his children: Jim (Mary Jane) of Preston, Minn., Jerry (friend Vicky) of Cresco and Martha of Cresco; seven grandchildren: Todd (Jill) Keune of Wykoff, Minn., Autumn (Randy) Fruth of Grand Meadow, Minn., Jarod (fiance Jonie) Keune of Preston, Minn., Laura Keune of Rochester, Minn., David Keune stationed in California in the U.S. Navy, Jonathan (Rebecca) Keune of Cresco, Lynette Keune of Austin, Minn.; and a family friend: Jessica Reicks of Cresco; great-grandchildren: Caden, Connor, Carter Fruth, Kylee Shumpert and Ashton Keune; brother-in-law: Jack Robinson of Lime Springs and his family, Connie (Arnie) Bakken of Lime Springs, Don of Iowa City and Doug of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: JoAnne and Merlin Kratz and Mary Lou and Raymond Murray, all of Cresco; and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister: Mae Robinson.
