Amiel H. Keune's Funeral Monday Drew Big Crowd

A capacity crowd of relatives and friends attended the funeral services Monday for Amiel H. Keune, 69, retired Cresco farmer, who died in the Cresco hospital Saturday.

The services were conducted in the Evangelical United Brethren church with the pastor, the Rev. Edward Schaller, in charge. Burial was in the Cedar Hill cemetery with the Bradley Funeral home making the funeral arrangements.

Amiel Henry Keune, son of. Mr. and Mrs. William Keune, was born March 3, 1887.

He was united in marriage to Alma Bronner December 10, 1908. The couple became the parents of two sons, Gordon and Burdette.

Mr. Keune was first a member of the Zion Evangelical church and later in life he transferred his membership to the First Evangelical church of Cresco, now known as the First Evangelical United Brethren church.

He was engaged in farming in Albion township until the spring of 1943 when he retired from the farm and moved his family to Cresco.

While living on the farm Mr. Keune served as clerk of Albion township for 28 years. From time to time he served in various offices of the church and was church treasurer at the time of his death.

Surviving Mr. Keune are his wife, Alma; his sons, Gordon and Burdette, both of Cresco; one brother, Herbert Keune of Cresco.

There are also three granddaughters, Mrs. Gloria Colby, Cynthia Keune and Sandra Keune, all of Cresco, and one great-granddaughter, Dawn Colby of Cresco.

Preceding Mr. Keune in death were his parents; his sister, Emma, and a brother, Wesley.

Among those from out-of-town attending the funeral services were relatives and friends from Spring Valley and Preston, Minnesota, and Cedar Rapids, Hampton, Waterloo, Decorah and neighboring towns.
