MRS. LORENA EVANS FUNERAL CONDUCTED

Funeral services for Mrs. Lorena Evans were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 10 at Zion Methodist church, rural Cresco, with interment in Cedar Hill cemetery. The Rev. Thomas Woodin officiated with Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She died March 7 at the Howard County hospital at the age of 97.

Lorena Goetsch, daughter of William E. and Bertha Krueger Goetsch, was born in Albion township on July 22, 1884. She spent her entire life in the Howard county area.

On Oct. 27, 1906 she was married to Herbert R. Evans at the family home in Howard county. They became the parents of four daughters.

Lorena was a member of the Zion United Methodist church most of her life, serving as an officer, Sunday school teacher for many years and a member of the women's group. She was also a member of the Bonair United Methodist ladies aid, Garden club, Farm Bureau and Voyager-Canadian club. She was an avid gardener and fisher.

Survivors include three daughters, Eleanor Allen of St. Ansgar, Esther Schuldt of Mentor, Ohio and Edith George of Cresco; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents, her husband who died in 1963; a daughter, Ruth; four brothers, Arthur, Edward, Alex and William and two sisters, Ida and Amanda.
