At Rest

Ruth Elenor Evans, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert R. Evans, was born July 19th, 1907 and died at her home three miles north of Bonair Thursday evening Nov. 4, 1909, age 2 years, 3 month and 16 days. Although in care of the best medical skill available she passed to her Heavenly home after a period of six days of patient suffering.

All who knew her knew but to love her. Although but a child, her pleasant disposition and loving smiles brought untold joy to her parents and friends.

Why she should have been taken from us so soon we cannot understand. But He who sent the solitary reaper to ebb away this young life understandeth the secret of all things mysterious.

In the poem below was expressed the wishes and sentiments of parents and relatives by whom she was known as Our Ruth.

OUR LITTLE RUTH
Our Ruth has gone, our dear little rose,
Who was loved by all as every one knows.
A beautiful face with its cheeks of pink
She was certainly a jewel so every one thinks.

We had'nt thot of her going you know,
But the going of pleasure is'nt oft' times slow;
Still she is gone and gone to stay
The wish is ours that we may see her some day.

The future we had planned for our little one,
Whose dear young life had just begun,
Was one that we had hoped might be fair and bright
With naught but sunshine her life to blight.

So as our dear little rose had begun to grow,
And shot out her branches so tender and slow;
We had hoped they might twine and grow so tall.
That naught could harm the blossom small.

From parents was taken a dear little guest,
Into the hands of Him who knoweth best;
Just how her little feet to guide,
From all her trials that had betide.
— K. W. G.

The funeral services were held at the German Evangelical church, conducted by Rev. Schwab of Cresco.

Many floral tributes arranged by loving hands were fitting emblems of her sweet little life. The remains were laid at rest in Cedar Hill cemetery followed by a large concourse of mourning relatives and friends. A father and a mother, four grand parents, a great grandfather, nine aunts, six uncles, and three cousins are left to mourn her loss.

CARD OF SHANKS.
We wish to express our sincere thanks to the neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and death of our loved one, also for the many beautiful flowers.

Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Evans.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Goetsch and family.
Mr. and Mrs. John Evans and family.
