Benjamin E. Offen.

Benjamin E. Offen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Offen was born at Bonair, Howard county, Iowa, October 26, 1871 and passed away in the Mercy hospital, Cresco, Iowa, June 15, 1942, at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 20 days.

On November 4, 1897, he was united in marriage to Anna Bronner of Albion township. To this union five children were born.

He leaves to mourn his departure four sons and one daughter: Lester of Los Angeles, Calif.; Elmer of Beatty, Nevada; Mrs. Elsie Holmes of Los Angeles, Calif.; Leon of LeRoy, Minn, and Villo of Riceville, Iowa; also one brother Wilke Offen of Cresco and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife who passed away March 5, 1933.

He spent most of his life at Bonair, Iowa, with the exception of a few years spent at Pine River, Minn. The last 3½ years he made his home with his son, Leon at LeRoy, Minn.

About one and a half years ago his health began to fail and for the past 6 months he was confined to his bed. April 27th he was taken to the Mercy hospital at Cresco where he remained until he passed away early Monday morning.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Bradley funeral home with interment at Cedar Hill cemetery, Albion township. Rev. M. T. Johnson of LeRoy, Minn., officiated at the services and Rev. and Mrs. Johnson sang two selections.

Pallbearers were: Arnt Forland, Joe Thelen, Hans Nordby, Sumner Engelsen, Theodore Maage and Ben Jones all of LeRoy, Minnesota.
