Mrs. John (Minnie Walter) Dempewolf

NATIVE OF GERMANY DIED LAST SUNDAY

Mrs. Minnie Walter Dempewolf was born at Moschutts, Germany, September 29, 1857. She came to America with her parents when nine years old, living at Manistee, Mich. After four years they came to Iowa and located in Albion township, Howard County, where she lived until moving to Rock Rapids for the winter to be with her daughter, Mrs. Clara Johnson, in whose home she passed away May 10th (Mother's Day) at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 11 days.

At sixteen years of age she united with the Evangelical Church and remained a faithful member to the end.

It was on the 22nd of March 1875 she was united in marriage to John Dempewolf. Eight children were born to them: five sons and three daughters; five children and her husband preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure two sons Arthur and Roy and one daughter, twenty-two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, one brother Aug. Walter, besides many other friends and relatives.

She was a patient and devoted mother whose work has been well done, and by faith in her Savior has fought and finished, a victorious life.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Zion Evangelical Church and burial was made in the church cemetery. The Rev. A. W. Schlesselman, pastor, officiated at the services.
