Youth, 6, Smothers In Grain
Falls Into Bin On Farm At Altura, Minn.
While playing in the barn at his farm home in Altura, Minn., Merlyn Milton Melcher, 6, accidentally fell into the grain bin and suffocated. The body was discovered a short time after the accident occurred.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 Sunday afternoon at the Granger Evangelical church with burial in the Cedar Hill cemetery. The Rev. A. L. Walker, pastor, officiated at the ceremony.
Merlyn Milton Melcher was born July 24, 1933, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Melcher. His mother, who was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Kreuger of Granger, preceded him in death.
Of those attending the funeral from a distance were Mrs. Carl Rausch, Elizabeth Rausch, Mrs. Oscar Overbeck, Mrs. Leonard Welch of Altura; Art Melcher of Ridge, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lingbeck of Lime Springs.
