August Huhe

August Huhe, 88, of Ridgeway, died at his home Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 8, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Bruce Hobert officiating.

Burial will be at the New Oregon Cemetery, Cresco. The Lindstrom Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Visitation will be held at the church Tuesday one hour before services.

August Huhe was born July 12, 1912, in Berksiek, Germany, the son of Fred Sr. and Eliza (Ackermier) Huhe. At 11 months of age, August came to the United States with his parents to their new homeland.

On Oct. 14, 1936, August was united in marriage to Frieda Gerber in Cresco.

They were active in farming until their retirement in 1994.

Survivors include his wife, Frieda of Ridgeway; one son, Eugene and Linda Huhe of Ridgeway; and four grandchildren, Duane Huhe of Moses Lake, Wash., Troy Huhe of Ridgeway, Shaonda Kappes and her husband Robbie of Cresco and Melanee Omar and her husband Jeremy of Cresco.

Also surviving are one sister, Frieda Goettelman of Spillville; and seven
great-grandchildren, Justin Huhe, Tyler Kappes, Kayla Kappes, Shania Kappes, Shawn Omar, Kyle Omar and Brandon Omar.

August Huhe was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Paul, Bill and Fred.

Services held tor August Huhe, 88

Funeral services for August Huhe of Ridgeway were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 8 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Rev. Bruce Hobert officiated. Interment was in New Oregon Cemetery, Cresco. Pall bearers were: Duane Huhe, Robert Kappes, Galen Huhe, Troy Huhe, Jeremy Omar, and Harold Huhe. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
