SERVICES HELD FRIDAY FOR ROY J. STARK, 98

Services were held Friday, Aug. 14, in Riceville for Roy Julius Stark, 98, who died Tuesday, Aug.11 at the Riceville Community Rest Home.

The Rev. Dr. Thomas Mowbray officiated at the 1:30 p.m. services in First Congregational United Church of Christ at Riceville. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Stark was born April 1, 1900, at his family farm in rural Riceville, son of Fred and Elizabeth Vollbrecht Stark. He attended local schools and May 14, 1926 was united in marriage to Myrtle Torney at the Cresco Congregational parsonage. They then moved to the Stark home place where they farmed. They were parents of three sons, Kenneth, Harold, and Dean. In 1953 they retired and moved into Riceville.

He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, and was an avid card player. In October of 1990 the couple moved to the Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City, Iowa, and resided there until October of 1994 when they moved to the Riceville Community Rest Home where Mrytle died Feb. 8, 1995.

Survivors include two sons, Dean and his wife, Helen, of Riceville; Harold and his wife, Mary, of Clarksville; a daughter-in-law, Mary Stark, Riceville; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two step
great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; a son, Kenneth; grandson Larry; two brothers, Harvey and Paul, and a sister, Myra Benda.

Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
