PLAN SERVICES FOR DAVID C. VAN DYKE

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 29 in Lime Springs for David Clair Van Dyke, 79, who died Nov. 9, 1997, at Mesa, Arizona. The Rev. Robert Holdorf will officiate at the services in Lindstrom Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by Lloyd L. Horton American Legion Post of Lime Springs.

Mr. Van Dyke was born Oct. 13, 1919, son of Harry and Mabel (Jones) Van Dyke on a farm in Bristol Township, Fillmore County, Minn. He attended rural schools and graduated from Lime Springs High School in 1938.

As a young man he worked many years for Bob and Effie Evans. As an avid sportman he pitched many ballgames and was always involved in sports. He was drafted into the army May 5, 1941, and discharged Aug. 14, 1945. He was united in marriage to Beverly Stiles Dec. 8, 1945.

He enrolled in Iowa State and gained a certificate in Dairy Plant management, then working for a short time for Walnut Dairy in Waterloo and then for Devon Dairy in Rockford, Illinois from 1948 until 1961. He then started working for Creamery package manufacturing, where he continued until retirement Jan. 1. 1983.

Mr. Van Dyke was a member of the VFW at Belvedere, Ill., the American Legion at Lime Springs, and the Moose Club of Rockford, Ill.

His wife, Beverly, preceded him in death in 1977, and for the past years his companion has been Betty Burchfield. Other survivors include his children, Ronalie Van Dkye Glacinski; Dawn Van Dkye Petecsia; Denise Van Dyke Mancino, and Brent Van Dyke. Also two grandchildren, Mara and David Glacinski, and his sister, Dorothy Klomp of Lime Springs.
