Kathleen "Kay" Joanne Sobolik, 59, of Cresco, passed away Monday, February 14, 2005 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, Minnesota, following a battle with ovarian cancer.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 18 at Cresco First Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Gary Lee and Intern Paul Miller officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Kay Sobolik was born August 2, 1945, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Cresco to John W. and Hazel (Borgan) Davis. She attended Lime Springs elementary schools and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1963. While in school, she was active in vocal and instrumental music, Luther League, and 4-H; she won numerous awards in 4-H and served a year as president for the Howard County Clubs.

She married Richard "Dick" Sobolik August 24, 1991. She graduated from Northeast Iowa Community College with honors, and graduated from Rochester Community and Technical College in 2004. She was a former employee of Donaldson, Inc. and Featherlite of Cresco and most recently a medical transcriptionist with Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She was a member of Cresco First Lutheran Church, active in the Cimota Club for several years.

Survivors include her mother and husband; children, Lisa (Linderbaum) and James Herd; Mark and Jane (O'Byrne) Linderbaum; and Aaron and Mya (Cutler) Linderbaum; four grandsons; a sister, Dianne (Gary) Kiefer; a brother, Thorn Davis; two nieces; a nephew; stepchildren and grandchildren; and special friends.
