Mrs. Ann Jones, the daughter of John and Jane Hughes of Cerrig Ceinwan, Anglesea, North Wales, was born May 6, 1846, and died in Lime Springs, Iowa, September 23, 1916, being thus seventy years, four months and seventeen days old.

In her girhood Mrs. Jones attended the National school and joined the Episcopal church of England. At the age of nineteen she came to the United States and at the age of twently-one was united in marriage to John J. Jones at Utica, N. Y.

In 1863 Mr. and Mrs. Jones moved to Fillmore county, Minnesota, and settled on a farm in York township at which place she remained forty-one years. The last eight years she made her home at Lime Springs, Iowa.

Her husband passed away at the homestead in York township twenty-five years ago.

She leaves to mourn her loss four children, Robert H. Jones of Granada, Minn., Mrs. Jennie Owen of Suffield, Canada, Mrs. Laura Howland and Margaret Jones of Lime Springs; eight grandchildren; also five brothers, John, Owen and Steve Hughes of Lime Springs, Henry and Joseph Hughes of Rome, N. Y., besides a host of friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Jones was in her usual good health within thirty minutes of her death, but was taken with a stroke of apoplexy and passed away at eleven o'clock Saturday morning. Wednesday, September 27, the remains were laid to rest in Pleasant Hill cemetery, services being conducted in the house and at the grave by Rev. Caldwell of the Presbyterian church. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their great loss and sorrow.
