Lime Springs Sun Herald June 22, 1916

Lena Sand was born in Norway December 6, 1858. She came to America in 1883 and has lived most of the time to the north of Lime Springs. She has been a person of quiet life, serving in humble manner as she had opportunity those who employed her.

For some years she has suffered a period of exceeding nervous trouble giving great pain and almost destroying reason. For some few days this attack had been very severe and she was fearful of some tragedy owing to the terrible suffering. The calamity came Saturday morning, June 18, at the home of John Mork, her nephew. She was 57 years, 6 months, and 11 days of age.

Miss Sand had only recently come from Cresco, where she was employed, and the sorrow comes very deeply to those at home, where she died. She leaves to mourn her loss, three brothers, Jacob, Ole and Nels, of Ossian; three sisters, Mrs. Christ Oswald, Anna Sand and one in Norway; with John Mork, Nels Osland, Bertha and Josie Osland. Funeral service was held at the home Monday afternoon, June 20, Rev. D. C. Perry officiating. Many of the friends came and expressed their sympathy and help to the sorrowing ones.
