William J. Williams, the son of John and Jane Williams, was born in ?hosgadfan, Carnarvonshire, North Wales, on the 27th day of July, 1829. When 23 years of age, he braved the terrors of the Atlantic, and landed in America in the year 1852. He came west as a pioneer, the same year, and settled at Blue Mounts, Wis., where he resided until the year 1868.

He was united in marriage to Miss Asa Williams, the daughter of William and Margaret Williams (Pantoch) Blue Mounts, Wis., on the 16th day of September, in the year 1856. Eleven children were born to them, six of which have passed away in infancy. In the year 18??, they moved to Bristol Grove, Fillmore county, Minn., where he resided until the year 1895. That year he gave up farming and retired to spend the rest of his days in this village.

Mr. Williams was a chief among the saints of this church. His life was controlled by strong religious principles implanted in his heart while young. As early as the year 1867 he was appointed an elder in the Welsh C. M. church at Blue Mounts, and remained in that office until his death. He was held in high esteem in this community because of his many good qualities. He was devoted to the welfare of his family, and also the church of God. A good man, who did well his duty, and fought as a hero of the Cross of Christ.

After suffering patiently for several months, Mr. Williams was unclothed from the weary weight of the body and fell asleep in Jesus Saturday afternoon, May 6th, 1916, at the age of 86 years, 9 months, and 21 days. He has now entered the blessed and everlasting rest.

He is survived and left to mourn his loss, a beloved wife, two sons, Mr. John A. Williams, Lime Springs, Iowa, and Mr. William R. Williams, Montour, Idaho, and three daughters, Mrs. W. H. Williams, Preston, Minn., Mrs. Robert Williams and Miss Dina Williams, Lime Springs, Iowa.

Funeral services were held from the Welsh C. M. church Wednesday afternoon, May 10th, conducted by Rev. William Jones, Crawfordsville, and Rev. Jones, Long Creek, Iowa. The remains were taken to Bristol Grove cemetery.
