SUICIDE NEAR BONAIR

On Wednesday, May 3, Henry Claussen, a farmer living on the old Borthwick farm in Howard Center township took his own life. Mr. Claussen and his son had been to Bonair in the afternoon and returned home with a load of hay. The boy went into the house and after some time the father not appearing a search was made and he was found hanging from the rear of the load of hay, dead. He had fastened the rope to the binding pole and tied it about his neck. Worry over business matters is thought to have caused mental derangement.

Suicide By Hanging

Henry Clausson, aged 55 years, a farmer residing southwest of Bonair, committed suicide late Thursday afternoon of last week by hanging himself from the binding pole on a load of hay in his barnyard. Although having not given any intimation that such an act was premeditated, he had worried considerably over business affairs and his rash act was doubtless due to financial difficulties.

His funeral was held on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Guy Rutherford, with interment in the Howard Center Cemetery.
