The funeral of Joseph Irvin occurred at the home of his son, John Irvin, last Saturday, and he was laid at rest in the Riceville cemetery. He was sick and failing for some time previous to his death, due largely to his advanced age.

He was one of the earlier settlers in this vicinity in Howard county.

The service was conducted by Rev. E. Bodenham of the the Baptist church. Up to going to press particulars of his life have failed to reach this office. (Dated Nov. 23, 1918)
