Braisted Benjamin Patterson, son of David and Eunice S. Patterson was born in Lafayette Co., Wisconsin, June 3rd, 1852 and came with his parents to Jamestown, Howard Co., Iowa in June 1855. When a young man, he taught school in Howard county. He was married to Miss Edith Herring June 3rd, 1975 and lived on a farm in Howard county, Iowa. To this union were born six children, three of them dying in infancy. He was converted and joined the Free Methodist church in 1889. He moved Browerville, Minn. in 1902. From there he moved to Perkins, Co., South Dakota in 1909 where he resided until the time of his death on March 22nd, 1934. He wife died Nov. 10, 1934; one daughter, Ethel died in 1922 and Maud died in 1932.
He is survived by his son, Clayton of Strool, S. Dakota; twelve grandchildren; three sisters, Lilliam Wheeler of Osage, Ia.; Rena Hanson of California; Jennie Davidson, Indianapolis, Ind.; and four brothers, David, Clarence, Charles, and Harry all of California; also several cousins and many friends.
