OBITUARY OF MRS. H. A. WELLS

Martha Ann DeMoss, daughter of Thomas and Electa S. DeMoss was born at Round Grove, Jamestown Township, Howard County, Iowa, August 25, 1861. Her mother died in 1862 and her father a Union soldier died in Vicksburg, Tennessee at a later date. She was cared for by her grandparent, Willis and Nancy Spencer. After their decease she went to live with her father's brother, Marcus DeMoss in Ohio.

She was married to Harry A. Wells in Ohio, April 21, 1883. They moved to the home north of Riceville. To them were born four children, Mrs. John Fritcher of Osage, Howard of Aberdeen, S. Dakota, Mrs. Fannie Gerke of Riceville and Aaron, who resides on the homestead north of Riceville. She was converted while in Ohio. After moving to Iowa she united with the Free Methodist church in 1889, with Alice Van Auken as pastor.

She had been a faithful, consistent Christian; doing all in her power to help in the Lord's work. She will be greatly missed by the church, as well as by her family and many friends. She leaves to mourn their loss; her husband, and all of her children who have tenderly cared for her during her illness, also 3 grandchildren, one brother, Samuel DeMoss, nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends.
