MARRIED.
Thursday morning, Nov. 2nd, at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. R, Thompson, occurred the marriage of their daughter, Gertrude J. Thompson, to John R. Hughes. Rev. O. Otterson was the officiating clergyman and the ceremony was performed before a small company consisting of only the immediate relatives and two or three intimate friends. The wedding march was played by Miss Grindeland and the company were entertained by a few well rendered songs by Miss Robinson.
Both of the contracting parties are well and favorably known to our people. The bride was born and reared in Cresco, and educated in its schools, and has been a successful teacher. She is in every way fitted for the position of a true wife and helpmeet. The groom is also well known to Cresco people, having lived here for several years, at one time being an efficient employee in the Republican office with Mr. Webster. A few years ago he took up the study of pharmacy and graduated a couple of years ago with honors from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, since which time he has acquired a fine drug store at Garfield, Wash., than which there is no finer in the state except in the city of Spokane.
The young couple left on the 12:40 train, yesterday, for Garfield, Wash., with the congratulations and well wishes or a large circle of friends among whom the PLAIN DEALER wishes to be included,
