A quiet, social gathering occurred at the home of Ferd. Lukes in Protivin, Wednesday, Nov. 8th, when his eldest daughter, Rosa, was united in the sacred bonds of marriage with Mr. John Kallal, of Jerseyville, Ill., a son of Joseph Kallal, a prominent farmer, stockman and politician in southwestern Illinois.
The bride was attended by Miss Annie Kallal, of Jerseyville, Ill., and Miss Annie Lukes, of Protivin, as bridesmaids, and Mr. Josepb Kallal, brother of the groom, and Mr. Joseph Bouska, of Protivin, acted as groomsmen. The bride and her maids were dressed in a beautiful white, silk strewn with roses.
After the ceremony, which was performed by Rev. Fr. Vrba, at 2 o’clock p. m., in Trinity Church, the young people repaired to the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ferd. Lukes, where a bountiful dinner was served,
As only near relatives were invited, there was plenty of room in the beautiful home of the bride’s parents. The afternoon and evening were spent in music, dancing and games of all kinds until the wee hours.
Those who were in attendance from a distance were Mrs. Joseph Kallal, of Jerseyville, III, mother of the groom, and Mr. Joseph and Miss Annie Kallal.
The young couple will visit with the Lukes family for five or six weeks before going to their future home in Jerseyville, Ill., where they will follow the pursuit of farming.
May their paths be strewn with roses. BLUFF.
